Navratri is a Hindu festival celebrated across nine days every year in the fall. Part of the celebration is devoted to the goddess Durga, and other parts celebrate the divinity of the goddesses who represent parts of Durga. While some goddesses appear kind and benevolent, others wield weapons and appear ferocious. Author Ananta Ripa Ajmera takes her readers on a spiritual journey to understand the significance of Navratri and the goddess celebrated during the festival in her book The Way of the Goddess. What propelled Ajmera on this spiritual journey was the realisation that despite the deep reverence for goddesses, women are treated poorly in most societies. The book is as much motivational as it is spiritual.

The book is written brilliantly. Although it is pivoted on a Hindu festival, the book is spiritual. The meditation techniques, spiritual practices, dietary disciplines, etc., mentioned in this book can be practised by readers of any religion without needing to challenge their faiths. The book is full of ancient wisdom taught in a way that can be easily implemented in our modern lifestyles to live an emotionally healthy life.

What I loved the most about the book is that it was very well-structured. This made it easy to understand the concepts, self-reflect, and prepare to learn from the next chapter. I loved the simple rituals mentioned in the book. Just reading them made me feel positive and energised. If put into practice, they would help alleviate anxiety and stress in readers who want to have a positive shift in their lives.

There was nothing that I disliked about the book. It is professionally edited. I did not come across any grammatical errors. Once I picked the book up, I could not put it down and finished reading it in one sitting. I would rate the book 5 out of 5 stars.

I highly recommend this book to readers who want to live a healthy, optimistic, joyful life. If you are looking for ways to manage stress, overcome trauma, or connect with your inner self, this book is for you. The book is suitable for readers of all religions because the techniques and practices mentioned in this book are purely spiritual.
