Review of Entanglement - Quantum and Otherwise
[Following is a volunteer review of "Entanglement - Quantum and Otherwise" by John K Danenbarger.]
Entanglement – Quantum and Otherwiseby John K Danenbarger unfolds its narrative with the sombre news of Geena's father's death, leaving her devastated and bewildered as she grapples with the aftermath. The story introduces various characters whose interactions and relationships become entwined, involving both homosexual and heterosexual dynamics filled with elements of love, humour, misunderstanding, and even murder.
Martins, a mathematician, intertwines his quest to solve a mathematical problem with the complexities of life, forming connections with Joe, who, in turn, saves Beth's life but unknowingly leads her into a perilous situation. The narrative raises questions about the endurance and happiness of Joe and Martin's relationship, as well as Geena's understanding of her father's demise. The book explores the intricate web of human relationships, contemplating whether these connections will yield positive or negative impacts on the characters involved.
I appreciate the author's ingenious attempt to connect mathematical phenomena with real-life events, breathing life into the narrative with brilliance and creativity. The novel's writing style stands out for its uniqueness. The emotionally impactful scene where Joe saves Beth resonates deeply, evoking thoughts of the Good Samaritan parable and inspiring readers to extend a helping hand to those in need.
I dislike this book primarily because of the confusing arrangement of plots at the beginning, which may deter less patient readers from delving deeper to understand the novel's intricacies. Additionally, my aversion stems from the deceptive actions of the Hutchins characters, who misled Beth into an unwitting and undesirable situation from which she needed assistance to escape. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy thought-provoking novels that intertwine mathematical concepts with real-life events. The book was exceptionally well-edited and error-free.
I gave this book a rating of 4 out of 5 stars due to its commendable strengths, such as the inventive connection between mathematical phenomena and real-life events, the brilliance of creativity, and emotionally resonant scenes like Joe saving Beth. These aspects contribute to a unique and engaging reading experience. However, the initial confusion in the plot arrangement and the negative impact of the Hutchins characters' deceptive actions slightly tempered my overall rating, as they might deter some readers. Despite these concerns, the novel's exploration of intricate human relationships and thought-provoking questions added depth to its narrative appeal.
