This captivating memoir delves into the extraordinary life of the author, who, for an incredible 37 years, served as a housekeeper to Debora, an oil tycoon heiress. The narrative unveils not only the author's professional struggles but also the psychological abuse she endured during this lengthy period, marked by three attempts to break free. The complex relationship between the author and Debora is nuanced – while the former harbored discontent about her work, financial constraints compelled her to persist, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to her responsibilities.

Remarkably, the author went above and beyond her duties, personally covering expenses without directly seeking reimbursement from Debora. This unorthodox approach, though understandable considering the delicate dynamics of their relationship, adds layers to the narrative. The author's reluctance to offend Debora, who hinted at the possibility of leaving her Mill Valley home to her, showcases the intricacies of power dynamics at play.

The endurance and resilience displayed by the author throughout these tumultuous years are nothing short of ordinary. The recounting of events suggests a meticulous recording, perhaps through the maintenance of a journal, highlighting the author's dedication to preserving the details of her challenging journey.

The narrative takes an unexpected turn with a thrilling home invasion story at the Mill Valley residence, adding an element of suspense that keeps the reader hooked until the end. The resolution of the story, where the author finally finds peace, brings a sense of relief and closure.

While the book offers an intriguing and thought-provoking experience, it is not without flaws, including occasional typos and grammatical errors. Despite these imperfections, I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars. It has minor sexual encounters . This memoir is an excellent choice for those seeking a psychologically intense thriller that explores the complexities of human relationships and resilience in the face of adversity.
