The author's reluctance to offend Debora, who hinted at the possibility of leaving her Mill Valley home to her, showcases the intricacies of power dynamics at play.

The endurance and resilience displayed by the author throughout these tumultuous years are nothing short of ordinary. The recounting of events suggests a meticulous recording, perhaps through the maintenance of a journal, highlighting the author's dedication to preserving the details of her challenging journey.
