"Cruise Ship Heist" by Stuart St. Paul is an engrossing mystery thriller that draws readers into a convoluted story of tension and unexpected turns. The narrative features Commander Kieron Philips, a retired military veteran who, while on a voyage to the Panama Canals, finds himself unintentionally caught up in a complicated web of events. The story deftly weaves together a large riddle, retaining a sense of mystery from the first as Kieron witnesses strange happenings at the airport. Kieron, the protagonist, has commendable character development as he embodies a dual personality that combines the qualities of a decent cop with the edge of a bad officer. The story becomes more intricate as a result of his dual identity and his relentless dedication to solving the mystery.
The novel skillfully keeps the tension level high, yet there are times when it plays fast and loose with readers' patience with deceptive clues and turns. However, for those looking for an immersive reading experience, the general tempo and narrative flow are highly recommended. Character exchanges, especially those between Kieron and Hunter Witowski, give the narrative a captivating intensity. A well-written dialogue avoids boredom by providing interesting exchanges and humorous moments. The action-packed sections of the book, which include murder, peril, and unexpected turns, make for an exciting and unforgettable reading experience. The well-executed and entertaining mystery thriller "Cruise Ship Heist" appeals to the tastes of ardent lovers of the genre, with expert editing guaranteeing a smooth storyline and no obvious problems.
