"A Dream for Peace" captivates with Dr. Ghoulem Berrah's intriguing journey as a medical doctor, university professor, scientist, and diplomat, all while navigating his origins in colonial-era Africa. The memoir delves into his diverse roles and chronicles his involvement in peace initiatives spanning Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and America during his tenure as Côte d'Ivoire’s diplomat and confidant to President Félix Houphouët-Boigny.

The biography skillfully narrates the organisation of peaceful protests, vocal resistance against injustice, and the kindling of hope. Amidst his journey, the challenges, including harsh persecution and personal hardships, showcase his bravery and resilience, serving as an inspiration for readers. Noteworthy aspects setting this book apart include its significant role in the historical calendar and the heightened impact derived from being rooted in a true story.

I find the support he received from friends, providing refuge during his evasion from the police, truly admirable. His resilience endured even through the challenges of prison and hard labour, showcasing commendable determination. His consistently altruistic personality, marked by a genuine commitment to helping others, adds a remarkable layer to his character. As a memoir penned by a pivotal figure in Africa's development, this book serves as a rich historical source. It not only narrates a personal journey but also meticulously provides specific details such as dates, times, and locations, contributing valuable insights into the intricate tapestry of Africa's history for both present and future generations of readers.

There was nothing I disliked about this book. The book was professionally edited because it has just one error. Therefore, I would give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars.

I recommend this book to readers who appreciate narratives of resilience, friendship, and societal impact. It particularly suits those interested in African history and the inspiring journey of individuals overcoming adversity.
