B.D. Roy's novel Impact Zone is about a young man named Jack and how he manages daily life after experiencing numerous changes in his family dynamics. Jack and his family are also avid surfers which the novel focuses on. It also focuses on Jack's teenage experiences of love, bullying, and school.

This novel was well written and was a nice quick easy read. The only downside to the writing was there was repetition of story points and repeated multiple times or discussed later on when it should of been discussed earlier at the first mention of the detail.

Throughout the story it did feel like there were plot point after plot point created to help keep the reader interested. However it would have been nice to have less unrelated plot points and have the plot points be explored further. Throughout the novel there was numerous details in the characters thoughts but minimal details in situations the character was facing which would have been appreciated to help immerse the reader into the world more.

There was a few moments in the writing that made me gasp out loud as I was reading. There were also moments in the novel that were quite predictable and didn't leave the reader in suspense with what was to occur next.

Throughout the novel I did notice moments that were not consistent about details or parts I wished were dealt with differently as it did not feel like the characters reactions were not ones you would see in a real life situation.

This novel would be very good for a young reader getting into their first novel as it is a good simple read which can keep the readers interest. I appreciated that the author used surfing terms and included a glossary of terms for those who did not know the surfing dialogue.

On a scale of 0-5 for sexual content I would rate it a 0 as there is only minimal kissing scenes.

I noticed no profanity throughout the novel.
