Barbara Galutia's upbringing in Coopersburg, Pennsylvania, significantly influenced her perspectives on healthcare. Her father, a prominent doctor in the region, stood out as one of the limited healthcare providers, fostering a deep connection with his clients. This personalized approach, uncommon in today's healthcare landscape, left a lasting impact on a young Barbara Galutia. In crafting "Surviving the Business of Healthcare," she seeks to pay tribute to her father's exemplary work ethic and compassionate nature, aiming to empower healthcare consumers with greater wisdom and savvy when navigating the healthcare system.

Commencing her narrative from early childhood in Pennsylvania, she chronicles her journey to being diagnosed with cancer at the time of writing. The author candidly recounts personal struggles and the unique connections forged with her patients, seamlessly intertwining her professional and personal experiences. Additionally, she incorporates insightful dialogues with patients, offering a well-rounded perspective. To enhance reader comprehension, she meticulously details various healthcare occupations, clarifying the roles of qualified providers. Emphasizing a crucial message, she urges everyone to advocate for their well-being in healthcare, encouraging questioning rather than unquestioning acceptance of medical advice at face value.

Finally, what stood out to me was the absence of an overwhelming flood of data and facts. I found great pleasure in delving into the intricacies of the author's personal life, which provided an opportunity to establish a quasi-personal connection and a deeper understanding of her life's intricacies. This aspect fostered a genuine sense of admiration and respect for her.

There was nothing I disliked about this book. The book was professionally edited because I only found one error. Therefore, I would give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars

I recommend this book to readers who appreciate a blend of personal narratives and informative content, as it offers a unique insight into the author's life while delivering valuable information. If you enjoy stories that build a personal connection and admiration for the author, this book could be an engaging choice for you.
