We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is the first book in a fantasy series by Matthew Tysz. It introduces us to the kingdom of Voulhire, a prosperous and powerful nation that faces many challenges and threats from within and without. The story follows two main characters: Galen Bray, a refugee from a war-torn land who inherits a property in Voulhire and hopes to start a new life; and Lord Knight Meldorath, a nobleman who is tasked with protecting the kingdom from its enemies and finding the legendary Mianoran Knights.

The book is well-written and engaging, with a rich and detailed world-building that immerses the reader in the culture, history, and politics of Voulhire. The author creates a complex and realistic society that is influenced by faith, science, and magic, and explores the themes of identity, loyalty, and destiny. The characters are well-developed and relatable, each with their own goals, motivations, and flaws. Galen is a humble and grateful protagonist who tries to adapt to his new environment and make friends, while Meldorath is a brave and ambitious leader who struggles with his personal demons and moral dilemmas. Their paths cross in unexpected ways, leading to some intriguing twists and turns.

The book also has plenty of action and suspense, as the kingdom of Voulhire faces various dangers from different sources. There is the Riva Rohavi, a group of rebels who despise the prosperity of Voulhire and seek to destroy it; there is the island of Magog, where a powerful wizard is imprisoned and plots his revenge; there is the Emperor of Lullabies, the king of Voulhire who fears his own sons will usurp him; and there are other mysterious forces that lurk in the shadows. The author keeps the reader hooked with his fast-paced and captivating narration, as well as his vivid descriptions of the scenes and settings.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this book and I would recommend it to fans of fantasy who are looking for an original and exciting story. The book has a lot of potential to develop into an epic saga that will appeal to readers of all ages. I look forward to reading the next books in the series and finding out more about the characters and the world of Voulhire.
