Memoirs of a Management Consultant by Franco Guazzoni is a non-fiction work that provides insight into his 50-plus years of life. Franco Guazzoni is a retired management consultant who has worked at a globally renowned consultancy firm. His extensive work experience in multiple companies and his membership in numerous organizations provide a rich background for this memoir. He narrates his memorable work deals, personal regrets, and significant family events. The book portrays a theme of self-reflection as Guazzoni imparts life lessons learned with every story he recounts. His personal growth parallels that of his work and continues into his retirement.

The book is written in reverse chronological order. Guazzoni eases the reader in by starting at the peak of his career, providing a unique insight into the highs and lows of entrepreneurship from the perspective of a Management Consultant.

On the downside, the book needs to be professionally edited. At times, it employs informal language and complex words, demanding pauses when reading to grasp their meaning. Each chapter in the book has headings, but there are also numerous subheadings within the chapters. However, they are abundant and can cause one to lose interest. Some of these subheadings consist of insignificant and small paragraphs. Memoirs of a Management Consultant is also a translated work originally written in Italian. This is evident in the way the book is narrated. Guazzoni frequently shifts between direct and indirect speech, which can disrupt concentration.

In the end, the book did not meet my expectations. Throughout the book, Guazzoni introduces many characters and fails to prioritize the ones crucial to the story. The theme of the book was not clear, and I couldn't connect well with the characters. Consequently, the book did not hold my attention and required extra effort to read. I rate it 3 out of 5 stars only because it is informative, and both its cover and title grab your attention.

The book does not contain any profanity or sexual content but it has grammatical errors and typos. I recommend it to mature and avid readers, as the book demands attention and profound comprehension. I also recommend it to non-fiction readers, as the book is an autobiography.
