Cynthia and Dan by author Dorothy May Mercer is an exciting book that keeps you hooked. It's part of the McBride Series, but you can enjoy it even if you have yet to read the others. Mercer mixes suspense, romance, and technology to tell a story that'll grab your attention.

The story follows Cynthia Patterson, who works as the Chief of Security for Senator McBride in Washington, D.C. She has a secret life where she pretends to be the senator's receptionist while leading a team of computer experts, including her brother Glenn, a Private Investigator. Together, they fight terrorists using the internet and try to stop their plans. With the help of two intelligent college students, they launch a virtual battle against terrorists.

Alongside the action-packed plot, there's a romantic side to the story. Cynthia has a long-term relationship with Sergeant Dan McIntyre from the Fairfax Police Department. They're comfortable together, but can it be more? Cynthia's life gets more complicated when she meets Sky, a mysterious man who seems to know a lot about her. But can she trust him?

What stood out to me was how thrilling the book is. Cynthia always seems to be in danger, which keeps you on edge. The cyber warfare part of the story is well-written and easy to follow. The ending wraps things up nicely while hinting at more to come.

I liked the book's storyline. Although the cover could have been more appealing, the title is fitting. Drones are a big part of the story, and they could've made the cover look more professional to match the quality of the story. Still, that's a small thing compared to how much I enjoyed the book. It's well-written and edited, with no grammar mistakes or typos.

In conclusion, Cynthia and Dan is an exciting read that mixes romance and technology. The book explores themes like trust and sacrifice that everyone can relate to. Mercer keeps you guessing who to trust and who's behind the drone attack on the White House. The mix of romance and computer battles makes it a thrilling read, and the idea that a small group can make a big difference is inspiring. Whether you know the McBride Series or not, I highly recommend this book to lovers of fantasy and science fiction. It's captivating and fun, and I give it four out of five stars for its exciting plot that kept me interested until the end.
