"American Dream?" penned by Jeoung Lee, presents a riveting fictional narrative rooted in actual encounters. Unfolding across Gwangju, South Korea, and Kirkland, Washington, the tale revolves around Hanel Kim, who navigates through a maze of trials amid a pandemic and political upheaval. General Jun's leadership ushers in chaos, worsened by the pandemic's impact.

Militia protests and student demonstrations arise against politicians, triggering events. Hanel faces a series of clashes alongside his kin and city dwellers. Relocating to the USA doesn't alleviate her struggles; the workplace prioritizes profit over patient welfare. Further, she grapples with racial bias and uncovers ethical breaches in supposed sanctuaries. Hanel's praiseworthy responses to these ordeals resonate throughout the narrative.

The novel's multifaceted storylines and characters have truly captivated and motivated me. Hanel, in particular, embodies moral fortitude, bravery, and empathy amid challenges. Her commitment to safeguarding pandemic sufferers and her brother Daehan's unwavering stand for justice, supported by friends Yusung and Mira, left a profound mark. While the plot might be straightforward, the compelling message resonates—the call to champion what is right.

While identifying shortcomings in this book proves challenging, its myriad merits are genuinely remarkable. Each facet is praiseworthy, from the author's adept storytelling and character evolution to the emotive scenarios depicted. Expertly transforming somber past pandemic memories into an engaging narrative, it encourages contemplation on the COVID-19 crisis and its toll. A heartfelt recommendation is extended, particularly to nurses aspiring to join the US healthcare landscape or those nurturing dreams of a nursing career, as it imparts invaluable insights. This book is an essential read for enthusiasts of fiction and reality-inspired tales alike.

My tribute to this book is a perfect 5 out of 5 stars. First and foremost, I commend the writer's extraordinary talent for storytelling, fashioning an astonishingly smooth and captivating narrative. Beyond its impeccably woven plot, this work is a valuable tool for mastering both English and Korean. The writer's scrupulous editing mustn't go unmentioned; it guarantees a seamless, error-free reading journey. Exceptional editing rendered the book flawlessly polished.
