A Dream for Peace, written by Dr.Ghoulem Berrah, is his autobiography. It surrounds the struggles that he faced while fighting for freedom and independence. He was born in Algeria and fostered by his mother, who played a role in the educational phase of his life. After attending elementary school, he received a scholarship and attended the University of Bordeaux, where he pursued medicine. While studying, he faces discrimination and proceeds to build a group of members that fights against it called the North African Muslim Students Association. During this time, multiple groups began to form in Algeria for independence. He and his party began striking, and he was forced to flee after being chased by the police. We then follow him on his journey at night, when he runs for safety with a woman named Antoinette, whom he later weds. Will he succeed in his endeavors, or will his dream of independence be in vain? Follow him on his many to find out what becomes of him.

The book is quite enjoyable and inspiring. The entire book revolves around independence and discrimination. This can be seen throughout the novel, starting with his strong beliefs against discrimination and then moving on to his marriage to Antoinette. The book is very informative, and we learn about the history of Algeria. Dr. Berrah is an inspiration, and we realize that no matter how hard we struggle for something If we put our minds to it, we can achieve it.

The book is very detailed and contains graphic images, both in black and white and color, thus giving the feel of the era at the time. Although the book is very knowledgeable and intriguing to read, The author uses French in his autobiography, which I disliked.

The book was well-edited. I did not encounter any grammatical errors while reading it. This shows that the author had taken his time while writing the book. I, therefore, rate this book a 5 out of 5.

I recommend it to those readers out there that enjoy reading autobiographies. The book is very long and requires a lot of time and patience to finish. So if you are one of those who enjoy reading historical fiction, then go ahead and sneak a peak into the world of African history.
