I consider myself to be a big reader and a novel lover, but recently I’ve turned to scientific articles and self-improvement books. Despite the tone of books, I’ve already read, I was a bit sceptical about Gina’s “Purpose”. Something about the book’s description together with its’ cover (I know “never judge the book by its’ cover”, but sometimes you cannot help it) made me suspicious.

I couldn’t be more wrong.

The “Purpose” is a very well-structured story on how to order your thoughts, find your goal and a way to put it into action using your community as a booster and support, in both real-life and on-line.
What I loved about this book is that even though I wasn’t really looking for a way to define my new purpose and act on it, now I want to, and I will. I have found clear guidelines on how to better define my needs, myself. The book is field with examples, other people real stories, so you never feel lost or unsure that you probably misunderstood something.

I really want to highlight the way the book is written. It is not another dull guideline that will make you regret spending 20€ on something you’ll just put on your bookshelf to gather dust. Gina used a very simple, direct, and engaging language. I think it can also be a great start for English-learners – it’s that easy to understand.

The only thing that bothered me, was the book layout design. I didn’t really like the way the dashes were handled, but I suppose it is just English vs French typesetting, but it’s the first time it was so noticeable and of course, it is not my first English book.

Overall, I rate this book 4 out of 5. It is a very good book, but it has two or three moments of what I call “marketing catch”, when the author tries to build the tension, before giving the answers and it irritated me slightly. Plus, those dashes!

To conclude, even if you won’t agree with the principles described by Gina you won’t be able to put the book aside. The language and the stories will make you finish the book. It’s this entertaining.
