The Parrot's Perch is a heartbreaking memoir authored by Karen Keilt, a Brazilian woman who grew up in Brazil but had her human rights cruelly violated by the local police in the country. The author also takes the reader on an emotional journey through her life, including her childhood, motherhood, and how her marriage contributed to her healing from those past traumas.

I must confess that Keilt has a unique ability, which is evident in how she made me feel what she felt during her horrible experiences as I read the book, which is both terrifying and inspiring at once. I can relate to her having a father who is verbally abusive. I know the pain it can bring. There were times when I'd wish that my parents whipped me or beat me up instead of saying ill things about me. It generally causes a kind of traumatic memory that is unexplainable. I'm glad that I was able to share that part of her pain with her. Her story of survival is truly remarkable, and it is hard not to be moved by her strength and courage in the face of adversity.

It can't be overemphasized how this book sheds a bright light on the human rights violations that occurred in Brazil. It even goes ahead to create awareness for ones that happen in other parts of the world. Keilt's experiences are just one example of the countless innocent people whose rights are violated daily by their local police. Her story brings attention to a little-known aspect of Brazilian history and highlights the importance of fighting for justice for the voiceless.

I rate Parrot's Perch 5 out of 5 stars, as it was obviously edited by a professional. I do not have anything negative to say about the book. I admire Keilt's relationship with Ricky, her husband. I like how they had those horrible experiences together and still felt so deeply in love with each other. This is a testament to the power of love and resilience.

I recommend this book to readers who seek a good source of inspiration, as it contains important stories about human rights and survival. Karen Keilt's memoir is a riveting account of her traumatic experiences, and her bravery in sharing her story would surely serve as an inspiration to readers of all ages.
