We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz tells the tale of Galen, a young lad who immigrated from a war-torn land called the Land of the Princes to the great city of Voulhire. With the help of his executor, Rowan, Galen is determined to continue his great uncle's legacy as a blacksmith as a symbol of gratitude. However, is Galen's opinion of the city all that meets the eye? Meldorath is a word that the people of Hillport, a quiet town in the south, fear. King Willhem appoints Eldus Alderman as the new lord of Hillport to help the people move on from the tragedies they've witnessed. Things take an unexpected turn when danger befalls Hillport.

Matthew Tysz's depiction of Voulhire left me amused in ways I cannot describe. I appreciated how Matthew was meticulous about every single detail in the book. The way he meticulously described even the smallest aspects was something I thoroughly enjoyed. However, it was the interactions between the characters in the story that kept me intrigued and compelled me to turn the pages even more. Furthermore, Matthew successfully evoked spine-chilling moments when the characters were gripped by fear amid an attack. It was almost as if I were present in those moments.

Although the ending was exceptional, I found the beginning somewhat dull, in my opinion. Additionally, there were too many new terms to grasp. The glossary did help in explaining the meaning of each term, but I cannot deny that, at times, I became a little confused as many of them had similar spellings. Apart from these, I do not believe there were any negative aspects of the book.

I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I believe this book deserves a perfect rating for the captivating story it unravelled. Furthermore, I am astounded by the vivid world that Matthew has brought to life. Undoubtedly, this book will become one of my all-time favourites!

Moreover, the book was exceptionally well-edited. I would recommend it to a mature audience interested in the realm of fantasy. I feel that individuals who have left their homes in search of opportunities elsewhere would greatly relate to Galen. Therefore, this book would be perfect for anyone looking to explore a new world and the tales it promises.
