Review of Always Strive to Be a Better You
Always Strive to Be a Better You is a self-help book authored by Pete Hall. It is an enlightening book that explores the timeless inquiry of how to lead a happy and fulfilling life, tapping into the core of human curiosity. It provides valuable insights and practical wisdom that are relevant to individuals of all ages, appealing to both the young and the old.
The book offers four fundamental tenets and thirteen key insights, guiding readers on a journey of introspection and self-discovery. The title of each tenet was in ancient Greek, with the translation written beside it. At the end of each chapter, there was an activity part titled "Your Turn".
The introduction disclosed where he first found the encyclopedia during a thunderstorm and how his curiosity for more was piqued, using some of Plato’s philosophical approach to set the foundation for the rest of the book. The first chapter was titled "Clean Your Mirror," and it talked about self-reflection. The next chapter, "Strength Your Core", refers to understanding yourself on a deeper level. The twelfth chapter, "Rise Up", talks about moments when our inner selves talk that can either prop us up or slam us down. The thirteenth chapter, "Put Your Feet on the Floor— It’s the Only Way to Soar", disclosed that you must go out and make things happen and not let things happen to you.
The book emphasizes the important role of our mindset in achieving success and fulfillment. It encourages the pursuit of passion, underscoring the importance of engaging in activities that bring us joy. By aligning our passion with our work or profession, we can reshape our perception of "work" and find fulfillment in the process. Additionally, the book sheds light on the duality within each individual—the public persona we project and the private side encompassing our thoughts and beliefs. Through acknowledging and exploring both aspects of our identity, we gain profound self-awareness and unlock our untapped potential.
I love how the author cleverly utilizes vivid metaphors, like the depiction of greyhounds and rabbits, to symbolize our relentless pursuit of ideas and untapped potential. It imparts an important lesson: although we may never entirely reach our full potential, it is essential to constantly strive for personal growth. The author emphasizes that potential knows no bounds, indicating that there are limitless possibilities for what we can accomplish and bring to fruition. I also loved how the author's incorporation of real-life stories and experiences adds depth and inspiration to the book, allowing readers to learn from the struggles and triumphs of others. These relatable narratives have a lasting impact on readers' personal growth journeys.
I discovered no grammatical error, as it appears to have been professionally and exceptionally edited and proofread. This book deserves a perfect rating of five out of five stars as it is an indispensable resource that guides readers in maximizing their life experiences. It is recommended for non-fiction and self-help enthusiasts, as well as those seeking personal growth and the motivation to conquer their fears and reach their potential.
