I recently had the pleasure of reading the memoir A Dream for Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah. In the book, Dr. Ghoulem narrates his journey. Dr. Ghoulem was born in a small town in northern Algeria. He describes to us how life was during his childhood in the French colony at the time and his dreams and aspirations.

As the book progresses, we see his struggles as a young student activist helping to fight for his country’s independence. Through his hard work and dedication, we see him rise in his profession and become a prominent person in Côte d'Ivoire. He describes some of the post-colonial struggles various African countries were going through at the time. We also get some insights into some of his diplomatic work and his commitment to improving the lives of his community. Dr. Ghoulem also shows us the importance of interreligious understanding and working together to create a peaceful and tolerant society.

I liked the vivid descriptions present in the book. I was able to create clear mental images as I continued reading. I appreciated the author's efforts in putting up the scanned images to help support some of the points. For example, the images of his research with Dr. Walter helped me understand what it was about. Also, I enjoyed the stories about different places mentioned in the book.

There were a few places where the words and sentences were left aligned. I understand that this might be the author’s style, but I did not like it. It did not affect my overall reading experience.

I gladly give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. It was professionally edited, and hence I did not encounter any spelling or grammatical errors. Also, the book was very engaging from the first page to the last. I would recommend this book to teenagers and adults who love personal accounts and historical books.
