We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is a work of fiction penned by Matthew Tysz that delves into various themes such as adventure, action, mystery, magic, science, suspense, and power. The narrative takes place in multiple universes that blend the physical and magical realms. The central focus is on the land of Voulhire, a prosperous country ruled by humans that holds immense growth potential.

The story begins by recounting the origins of the Lands of the Princes and the devastating war that ravaged them. In this setting, we meet the protagonist, Galen Bray, a young man who is fleeing for his life. Fortunately, he is saved and inherits the estate of his long-lost grand-uncle in the distant land of Magnum Caelum. Upon his arrival, Galen is warmly welcomed by the Mayor and his grand-uncle's executor, Rowan. They become friends and embark on a mission to revive his grand-uncle's business and learn about the perfect Voulhire and its ways. Voulhire is a prosperous land of magic, science, and order, albeit with occasional rebellions from groups such as the Riva Rohavi terrorists and Lord Meldorath, an old friend of King Wilhelm, who seeks to enhance his mastery of magic through unethical means. These insurgent groups pose a threat to the small, unprotected fishing village of Hillport, which has recently come under the lordship of Eldus Alderman after suffering numerous tragedies under its previous lords.

I admire the author's talent for imaginatively weaving together different universes and action-packed scenes, including the display of magical abilities by the mages, as well as the portrayal of diverse characters throughout the story, from beginning to end. This approach adds to the story's allure, allowing readers to easily envision the various plots, events, and characters. Furthermore, the author's writing style is praiseworthy, as he skillfully incorporates intricate histories and cultures into different settings, lending authenticity to the story, and employing a unique brand of humour during interpersonal conflicts. I also appreciate how the story's chapters alternate between the perspectives of multiple characters, presenting different angles and events to the narrative and revealing the thoughts and actions of various individuals.

I found the book to be an exhilarating read and have no complaints or dislikes, as the author's writing ability and style are exceptional. The characters are meticulously crafted, the plots are intricately woven, and the storyline is well-crafted. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys metaphysical elements such as magic, adventure, action, and power struggles.

I gave the book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars, I must note that a pivotal theme of the story is the perils of undervaluing an individual's power, which I believe is an invaluable lesson. Additionally, the book was exceptionally well-edited, devoid of errors, and the author's deft use of action and suspense held readers spellbound, resulting in a truly unique and pleasurable combination that made for an exhilarating read.
