Memoirs are an excellent way to tell others about our lives. A Dream for Peace: An Ambassador's Memoir, written by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah, revolves around the author's memoir, which he uses as an opportunity to tell us about his life.

Dr. Ghoulem Berrah starts this memoir by telling us about his birth in Algeria, his family, and his childhood. He would discuss his education abroad in Bordeaux, France, where he encountered racism firsthand. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah would become an independence activist as the cry for Algeria's independence grew louder. He would go on to get a scholarship in America, where he would study microbiology, and his further research on an enzyme would prove vital to its discovery and acknowledgment. Later in his life, he would be involved in peace treaties between Israel and Palestine and would be privileged to visit memorable locations around the world, most importantly the Vatican City in Rome.

Politics as a topic has always caught my interest. The author wrote extensively about the topic and linked it to his life. He did this in such a manner that his memoir did not go out of context or lose content. I enjoyed the stories he told about the Nigerian-Biafran War and the Cold War. Another thing I liked about this book was the author's ability to include French in his memoir. The author is from a French-speaking nation, and as he wrote this memoir in English, he didn't spare any opportunity to use some French lingo while he wrote. This depicted his true heritage and showed how proud he was of it.

Nothing was disconcerting about this book. The author wrote it exceptionally well, and I cannot think of anything to hate about it. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah might be late now, but his life's events still live in this memoir and will always be remembered.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I couldn't think of one thing to hate about it, so I will not remove a star. This book was so error-free, which insinuates that it was excellently edited. I recommend this book to readers who love reading memoirs and would love to revel in books filled with history and politics.
