A group of four young men decide to form a tradition in college - from here on out, they will travel every year for several days somewhere exotic. This vacation - named Man Mission - is to be a distraction from their everyday lives, a way to strengthen their friendship and challenge themselves. Throughout the years, they travel across New Zealand, Japan, Spain, Hawaii, Fiji and many other places all around the world. They hike, kayak or cycle while encountering people and events that most people only hear about on TV. Over time, they also get married, start their own families and do everything proper men are supposed to do in their lives. Gradually, Man Mission becomes an integral part of their lives, annual respite, especially in times when they face their biggest struggles.

Eytan Uliel's Man Mission provides a fast-paced story of four ordinary men trying to figure out what it really means "to be a man". In the book, the parts dedicated to the travels completed with descriptions of breathtaking nature take turns with the narrative about the events of the past year leading up to that year's Man Mission. Even though the plot is quite fast-moving, it does not feel at any moment rushed.

I find it difficult to pinpoint any negative aspects of this book. The story is gripping, entertaining and deep at the same time. It makes the reader stop and think for a moment about the things the characters face, which can often be very relatable for a multitude of people.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. Although I do not usually read this type of story, this one really made me not want to put the book down until I was done reading it. It was a truly interesting story in which I did not find anything that I would change.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for something fun that would make him think about seeking meaning and purpose in their life at the same time.
