Dr. Ghoulem Berrah shares his life story and contribution to his country's independence from colonial authority in this nonfiction narrative book, A Dream for Peace.

Dr. Ghoulem Berrah was born in aïn beïda, Algeria, during the colonial rule of France. He was raised by his mother, who valued his education greatly. Being an outstanding student, he received various awards, including a scholarship to study medicine at the University of Bordeaux in France. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah, as a child, revolted against racism and discrimination, so it was not a surprise that he founded the Association of North African Muslim Students to protect the rights of African students. His political activities made him popular in good and bad ways, and he had to hide from the authorities on several occasions. Dr. Glouhem became a recognized doctor, and his influence was known far and near, down to when he became a special adviser to President Houphouet-Boigny. He led an interesting life; his impact is known in France and his home country, Algeria.

This book was remarkable, and I love everything about it. The story of Dr. Ghoulem shows how far a person can go with the right support. His mother was a strong pillar that helped him gain the confidence to fight back and refuse less than he was worth. It was also very informative; it gave great insights into the colonial rule of France in Algeria and the journey to their independence. Dr. Ghoulem, even as a student, showed great leadership qualities and created a safe space for other students who had a similar upbringing as he did. I loved how they stood up for each other, and irrespective of their religious beliefs and culture, they were accommodating of one another. The author's writing style is relaxed and engaging, making it very interesting.

After reading A Dream for Peace, I found nothing to dislike; each character was well-developed, and the storyline was well-delivered. Also, while going through the editing process of this book, I found no errors. It was exceptionally edited.

A Dream for Peace was phenomenal. I rate it 5 out of 5 stars. It is a true work of art, and the life of Dr. Ghoulem was beyond inspiring. I commend the author's ability to convey its message to the readers.

I recommend this book to people interested in the background and history of the African continent. Also, if you love documentaries, this book is perfect for you.
