Review of A Dream For Peace
A Dream For Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is an autobiographical work that chronicles the author's life and the various struggles he faced in his quest for peace and the liberation of Algeria from the French. The book touches upon a range of themes such as activism, racism, and freedom fighting. Born in Algeria, Berrah received his education there before moving to Paris to pursue a medical degree. During this time, he developed a strong yearning to see his country gain independence from French colonial rule, which motivated him to become involved in various political organizations advocating for freedom. As he witnessed the continued oppression of Algeria, Berrah became increasingly involved in political activism, eventually rising to leadership positions within these organizations. However, his education was interrupted due to violent riots, causing him to leave school and only return to Indiana University at a later time. It was during his time at Indiana that Berrah was offered a teaching position at Yale University and had the opportunity to meet with several presidents. But it was a meeting with the president of Côte d'Ivoire that presented him with an opportunity to work in a developing country in Africa. After weighing his options, Berrah decided to move to Côte d'Ivoire and dedicate his time to assisting the local population.
Since then, he has played a significant role in advocating for peace in various countries and has employed a range of negotiating strategies to help achieve this goal. Overall, A Dream For Peace is an inspiring work that sheds light on the struggles faced by those fighting for liberation and the importance of maintaining a strong commitment to peace. It's a testament to his dedication and selflessness in his pursuit of peace, activism, and equality.
I enjoyed reading this book. This book is a powerful autobiography that highlights Dr. Ghoulem Berrah's life journey and his fight for the liberation of Algeria. The book is an inspiring read that captures the author's philosophical and ideological views on the French colonization of Algeria and his struggles at actualizing freedom for his people. Through his journey, the author teaches us that with determination and perseverance, we can overcome any challenge and make a positive impact on the world.
The only thing I disliked about this book was its length. There is way too much information given to readers, which can make it a bit hard to follow, but as it is an autobiography, that is to be expected.
I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I would recommend this book to anyone seeking inspiration and insight into the life of a freedom fighter and international diplomat.
