Review of Devil Among Us
Devil Among Us by Jack Winnick is a fast-paced thriller book of two countries secret security agencies collaborating to counter a ravaging devil. The author tells the story in a most fascinating and engaging manner. Lara and Uri were the chief characters in the book.
A bomb went off in a Jewish synagogue in Brooklyn New York during a Yom Kippur service despite the security checks put in place. FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force agent, Lara Edmond, was called upon to investigate the attack. Israeli’s Mossad sent in their special agent, Uri Levin, to assist in the investigation when it was clear that terrorists linked to the Middle East perpetrated the act. Lara and Uri are to work closely again after they previously did in the past. Both operatives had worked to counter terrorism in the Middle East and so, it was less difficult for them to collaborate to unravelling the New York bombing. The investigation and trail of the terrorists lead them through cities in the U.S. and to the Middle East while engaging in arm confrontations with the terrorists at some points. They were able to discover more terror plots in the U.S. and Israel by the Muslim Brotherhood.
The book Devil among Us by Jack Winnick is an enthralling one. It is action-packed. The author took time to develop the characters in the book. The book’s plot was well-ordered; readers would easily follow the book's story. It is a page-turner book, thanks to the writing style of the Jack Winnick.
Lara and Uri were my hero in the book. I like how they looked after each other’s back even during the many dire operations. I like how beautifully designed the cover page of the book is. It first drew my attention to read the book and it was not a disappointing read. The book is truly action-packed. One cannot guess the next plot that will unfold. It is like watch one of those James bond action movies. I like how Lara and Uri effectively collaborated to carried out their official duty of hunting down those “devils among us” despite being in romantic relationship.
As a non-Arabic person, I found it had trying to follow the book’s story at some point due to the Arabic names and location the author used. This was what I disliked about the book. However, the book was well-exceptionally edited. I found no error in it. I give the book a 5 out of 5 stars rating because it was exceptionally edited.
I recommend the book Devil Among Us by Jack Winnick to adults who love action-packed and secret service books.
