As the pain persists rather stubbornly on your back and your knees start to creak more often, do you worry that there would come an age when your body would not be able to keep up with your current employment? Like it or not, the average human lifespan has improved. The presumption that you would not live long enough to experience the deterioration of your body's peak condition is long gone. Fear not, Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer is at your service. This book is meant to provide an informative guide to planning your financial and future reality.

Reconfigurement can start in any part of your life. Though it is better to start considering early so more options can be available to you as you work towards them.

No matter how much we deny it, your income would be playing the largest role in planning for retirement. If you don’t have too much income to spare, begin with budgeting. You will be surprised how much spare money you would have had you held back on certain unnecessary stuff. Organise your thoughts with the Retirement Planning Software and break them down into manageable chunks.

To start, there is a likely chance of losing your income to an injury than dying, so it might be in your best interest to consider income protection, especially for those working in hazardous work conditions. If you worry that you are unfortunate enough to bite the dust sooner, then look to life insurance, college savings plans, wills, and trusts if you have something you would like to leave behind for your spouse and offspring.

Think Heaven won’t be calling for you as quickly? If you want to stop working after retirement age, then you should consider your pension with qualified plans. If you wish to continue working, search for your dream job with career assessments. Regardless of both, think of insurance or trying your luck in investment, since social security and medical expenses will be pricey to pay.

Want the best of both worlds? Move over to the annuities section to inform yourself.

The language used in this book is simple and easy to follow. I enjoyed the quotes sprinkled across the book in timely-needed breaks. The humour was entertaining, especially when the author reminisced on his own experience. This book was thorough with its explanations, backed up by statistical data and simulations.

One of the most eye-opening statements I read was that there was a higher possibility of losing your income before retirement age than dying. Depending on your fortune, there was a risk that you might suffer an injury that would impair your ability to work.

I found it entertaining that there was a chapter solely dedicated to doing career assessments. None of their feedback was completely accurate, but they brought awareness to certain parts of my personality. They were good exercises to contemplate and would help to build the details surrounding your ideal future. I appreciated the resources attached to the aforementioned assessment without having to hunt for them throughout the internet.

The only flaw I noticed as a reader was that certain structures of the topic did not particularly flow naturally and the information was hefty at times if you do not possess prior knowledge.

Overall, I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars. It is an informative guide that tells you all you need when planning for your retirement and introduces other works that may assist your further understanding. There are only a few minor errors that can be fixed easily with another round of editing.

I recommend this book to any person who is having trouble figuring out a starting point for retirement and what it entails for the changes in your financial situation. I believe those who are unhappy with their current employment can benefit from giving this book a read.
