Review of Fear Not, Dream Big, & Execute
I believe that every human being has at least one particular dream they would love to execute and live out. It may be something to do with their well-being, wealth, social status, religion, economy, education, or everything else that one can imagine. Jeff Meyer believes the same thing, and Fear Not, Dream Big, & Execute is that belief manifested. I am quite certain that this book also began as a dream, and the author had to apply some of the advice he wrote in it to make it a tangible reality. This book was written to help the reader to step outside of their fear and allow their imagination to thrive so that they can execute the dreams that they may have.
Firstly, the book has religious overtones. That was a bit of a surprise to me. I haven't read any self-help books that are written from that viewpoint before, and it was quite refreshing to see how this book was put together. Mixing religious ideas with secular ones is an interesting choice. As a figure, Jesus Christ is a great muse. His documented life can inspire anyone from any background to live a more fulfilling life, so the book doesn't feel very strange at all when I look at it like that.
Secondly, the writing is very good. Generally speaking, most self-help books are written in a rigid, almost textbook-like manner with little creativity. Jeffrey Meyer dug a little deep into his creativity and wrote a pleasant book to read.
Although the book is different from the ones I've read before, it still leans on popular self-help book ideas that are universal in that sphere. It's not necessarily a bad thing, because some of the advice I found in this book was practical and helpful, but I do think that people who have come across many of these ideas may feel that the book doesn’t offer them enough new ideas. That's the only negative thing about this book.
I rate it 5 out of 5 stars. It's edited exceptionally well, too, which is an incredible achievement. Despite my reservations about some of the ideas shared in the book, I feel that this is one of the strongest self-help books I have ever come across.
I think that Fear Not, Dream Big, & Execute is best for a novice self-help book reader who wants a bit of practical advice to help them get ahead in life. It is also probably most suitable for religious people because it draws a lot of inspiration from the Christian Bible.
