A Dream For Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a summary of the contribution the author had in science and the politics of Africa, especially those of Algeria and Côte d'Ivoire. His life began as meekly as possible in a little area called Aïn Beïda. But meekness wasn't part of his destiny. He quickly rose into the ranks of politics, getting involved with radical political movements that sought to topple the government of the day. Algeria sought independence, and Ghoulem was involved in every way to see this through. But there came a point when education became his priority, and a move to the United States of America was on the cards for him. He became a respected scientist, responsible for contributing significantly to the world of research, and this was just the beginning of his storied life.

It is clear from the sixth chapter that the author was a man of peace, love, and tolerance. Although this wasn't particularly clear in the beginning of the memoir, it became clearer when he became a personal aide to President Houphoët-Boigny of Côte d'Ivoire. Dr Ghoulem Berrah had a passion for people, religion, and Africa, and these points made him standout among the rest of his peers. He championed many peaceful resolutions, and he was present during some of the continent's most memorable moments. I loved learning about his contributions to the continent I call home.

This book also contains some of the most beautiful pictures. The author shared his many meetings with luminaries across the African continent, and he also included personal pictures that showed his evolution as a romantic partner. I loved all of them because they provided us with visual context, and that made the memoir feel special in many ways.

I also enjoyed his candour. Dr Ghoulem Berrah wasn't a flawless human being, and that is clearly documented in the book. He was, however, a man who had an open heart and mind, and he wanted the continent he loved so much to thrive in every way.

I cannot fault any part of the book. I enjoyed every moment I got to spend with it, and I loved every one of the stories the author shared. The book was also edited exceptionally well becaude I saw zero editing errors. I think that a 5 out of 5 stars rating properly captures the quality of this memoir.

I believe that people who enjoy memoirs will enjoy this one thoroughly. It is steeped in politics, a bit of religion, love, and most of all, peace. It is quite long, but it is so good that its length didn't really bother me.
