Review of Wild World
Wild World is a historical fiction book by Peter S. Rush. It is a technical and engaging book. It is based on the anti-war protest movement during the Vietnam war. The war led to political division in the United States. The United States had to use military force in northern and southern Vietnam.
The book was written in the 1970s when Steve was a student at Brown University. He had a girlfriend called Roxy. He wants to join the police force to make a difference in the anti-war protest movement. He aims to stop corruption in the police department. Will he be successful? Will he end up being like the other police officers? After the assault of 4 students at Kent State University by the police, he was motivated to join the police force. He foregoes his desire and joins the police. Do you think the decision was appropriate? After attending the seminar by sergeant David Durk, he burns with the desire to make a difference. The officers there are against him because he wants to do the right thing. He believes in the law.
I like the partnerships in the book. Many people tend to displease themselves to please their loved ones. Steve and Roxy are victims of this. Steve, after graduating, decided to stay with Roxy. He had vowed to protect her. Roxy had recently lost her father and her sister. Steve saw that he needed to stay with her. Steve and Roxy wanted to do things the right way. They endangered their lives in the protest against the brutality shown by the police. The police did not spare anyone.
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I did not find any typos or grammatical errors in the book. Because of this, I can say the book was exceptionally well-edited. The book explains the difficulties that college students go through while trying to navigate through life. This was very impactful. The author set the storyline such that there were no loose ends. The book has realistic characters. Despite the assaults and killings, the characters were not deterred from their mission. This demonstrates resilience and passion. The characters' description was very captivating. Every aspect of the book was brought out clearly. I disliked nothing about it. The themes of love, forgiveness, gender equality, selflessness, and corruption were brought out clearly by Peter S. Rush.
I recommend this book to lovers of historical fiction and those who love politics. Those who want to change their societies will also benefit from reading this book. The author used heavy profanity and graphic description of sexual scenes. I, therefore, recommend it to a mature audience.
