Review of Bluewater Walkabout
Bluewater Walkabout: Into Africa by Tina Dreffin is a captivating nonfiction novel that takes readers on a journey of self-discovery and adventure. Growing up, Tina was always drawn to the thrill of travel and the unknown, often dreaming of exploring the world through various means of transportation. But her true calling was sailing the open seas. With a strong determination and unwavering faith, she sets out on an epic voyage with her soulmate, Peter, to the exotic lands of Africa. Together, they face countless challenges, but their love and sense of adventure keep them going. They encounter breathtaking landscapes and wild animals and make memories that last a lifetime. However, as they embarked on this journey of a lifetime, Tina was diagnosed with a life-threatening disease. But, instead of being defeated, she finds the strength to embrace life and the memories made on her journey, which become her source of hope and healing. This book was not just a tale of adventure but a testament to the human spirit and the power of love and determination in the face of adversity.
The book not only documents a series of thrilling adventures, but it also imparts valuable life lessons. One of the key lessons that the reader will learn is the importance of compatibility in terms of values and life goals before entering into a marriage. Having a partner with vastly different aspirations can put a damper on one's ability to pursue their dreams. The author's storytelling skills are noteworthy, as they paint a vivid picture of each experience through the use of intricate details. One of the most memorable destinations was South Africa, where the family embarked on a heart-pumping safari, coming face to face with wild animals such as rhinos, lions, and elephants. These experiences not only provided excitement but also strengthened the bonds between family members and friends.
Tina's tale is a true testament to the power of resilience and perseverance. It holds the potential to be a source of encouragement and inspiration not just for women but for everyone facing tough times. Despite being dealt a difficult hand in life, Tina never gave up and instead sought ways to heal and recover. Her steadfast spirit is a shining example of the human spirit's ability to overcome even the toughest of challenges. Tina's vivid descriptions of the places she visited paint a picture of hope and possibility, and her trip to Africa was a testament to this, as she discovered that it was not as dire as some may have thought. Her story is one of hope, strength, and the power of the human spirit.
This book was not just an ordinary account of her family's travels to different lands. Instead, she uses this opportunity to tackle pressing issues such as sexual assault and miscarriage and share her own experiences with these challenges. The bravery and courage it takes to openly discuss such difficult topics cannot be overstated, and I am in awe of Tina for doing so. Through her story, she inspires others who may have gone through similar struggles to share their own experiences and not remain hidden.
There was nothing I disliked about this book. Also, it was professionally edited, as I only encountered one error in it. I am proud to rate Bluewater Walkabout: Into Africa 5 out of 5 stars for its captivating narrative and empowering message. Whether you are a fan of memoirs or travel, this book is a must-read, and I wholeheartedly recommend it.
