“Reconfigurement”: Reconfiguring your life at any stage and planning ahead by E Alan Fleischauer. This is a nonfiction book about personal finance and planning which explains many ways to invest, and talks about different types of disability insurance policies, planning your retirement, life insurance, social security programs, income protection, etc. The author is quite experienced in finance as he has been a financial adviser for more than 20 years. He talks about how lots of people are not happy with what they do in their work environments and have no plans for their retirement. He encourages everyone who reads this book to think about their retirement and to do what they, enjoy doing in life, without doing something they don’t feel satisfied with at the end of the day.

This book was easy to understand and talks about each topic in great detail clearly so anyone can understand it. The author makes the reader more engaged in reading his book by adding jokes in every chapter more than once. I like how he has used some made-up stories as examples to explain what he is talking about so it gives the reader a better understanding of what he is trying to tell you. I also like how the author has provided the readers with quite a few websites with assessments links that determine the suitable career path a person should take based on his or her personality type, and has provided links to some software that is available online that helps with savings and planning your retirement.

What I didn’t like about this book was the explanation of the history behind the financial legislation and jargon which made it a bit boring for me as I’m not that interested in the history, but someone who enjoys this aspect of it may find this appealing. Also, as a non-citizen of the United States, it was a bit hard for me to understand some financial industry plans and terms that he was talking about as they weren’t relevant or familiar to me, so I had to read some chapters twice and make an extra effort to get a better understanding of what was being said.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars for explaining information well and clearly. He managed to not bore the reader by using jokes and made me think of my retirement plans too. Also, this book has been edited well, as I did not find any errors.

I recommend this book to anyone who is living in America or plans to, who is interested in creating a sound financial nest egg for their retirement. I also believe it’s beneficial for anyone as early as in their 20s to read this book, to plan their future career, and, to make sound financial decisions for their future.
