Review of Terms of Service
Would you be able to cope when you find yourself in a situation where your life gets monitored by your place of work? In Terms of Service by Craig W. Stanfill, Craig tells the reader about the lifestyle of Kim and the challenges she faced in her life.
Kim is a young graduate who was given a job at this particular company that we read about in the book. Talking about what this company is about, the company trains robots, and they employ people to help with that. Kim is one of these people. While she thought that that’s the only work she will be doing there, she later learned that the work holds more trouble for her. This trouble included the monitoring of her life by the company. It was worst to the extent that every one of her activities was being monitored. She never knew her life would turn out the way it has, and it was very late for her before she discovered this. Her weariness and sadness are shown in the book, as she now has a hard time working with the company.
Going into the future and learning about what will happen was very fascinating. We could also see what will become of Kim in the years to come. I believe this also simply means that the world is going to take a different turn over time. This is to say that we were able to learn two things from one perspective given by the author. From this, I also felt the need to get prepared for things like this in the future, provided they happen before my demise. Another thing I like about the book is how Kim was able to perform her duties very well even despite the harsh things done to her by her company. There is no other definition of loyalty than this.
This AI company seemed too good to be true. Their activities, the way they monitored the lives of their workers, and every other aspect relating to them—I disliked this aspect of the book. They closely watched Kim's activities, and there was no breathing space for her. For a graduate whose hopes and expectations are high, the company ruined her happiness, leaving her weary all the time.
Kim was surely my best character. I learned many things from her, especially her loyalty. The book was exceptionally edited, because I did not find any errors in it. But this book will not get a perfect rating from me. The rating it will get from me is four out of five stars. I gave it this rating since there are things I do not like about the book.
I recommend people experiencing harsh treatment at work read Terms of Service by Craig W. Stanfill.
