Review of Reconfigurement
Reconfigurement is possible at any age. The fact is that this new generation has a higher life expectancy than the older generation of Americans. E. Alan Fleischauer documents in his book, Reconfigurement , that 30 more years have been added to the average life expectancy of Americans in the last decade only. In this book, Fleischauer takes the reader on a journey to retirement financial planning ad leading a fulfilling life while at it. Moreover, this book has additional free online resources to help you in this journey.
You can never go wrong with planning. And planning is beneficial to take control of any part of your life, be it time management, social life, and even financial life. Lack of planning increases your susceptibility to chaos since you are not in control of your life. Reconfigurement is the solution to taking charge of your life. The good thing is that restructuring your life can happen at any age so even if you are in your sixties or seventies, worry not!
This book is written for an American audience, and most references are made to American systems. However, the knowledge in this book applies to any person with a salary who seeks to reconfigure their life and financially prepare for retirement. I would recommend this book to adults over the age of twenty with an income who are fans of self-help literature.
This book is written in a conversational tone, and that is what I like most about it. Fleischauer plays around with words to make it seem like you are his friend and he is right in front of you having a conversation with you. Additionally, the author drops random jokes in the chapters adding to his humorous storytelling. This book was exceptionally edited and is more of advice from a friend to help you live the life you desire as you actively prepare for retirement.
I am sorry, what is not to like in this book? I enjoyed every part of reading Reconfigurement , although I must admit, the little parts that contained the history of certain concepts were my least favorite. However, these bits were important for understanding the concepts presented and how they have evolved over the years. Still, this was a great read.
I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars . Fleischauer is a conversationalist and an expert at his game. With knowledge and experience as an Accredited Investment Fiduciary, the author demonstrates a deep understanding of American finance. He breaks down seemingly abstract financial and investment concepts into small digestible pieces of information. However, this book is not meant to offer financial investment advice but to avail possible pathways and systems for taking control of your life and planning better for retirement.
