Phobia loosely defined means a feeling of excessive and irrational fear towards a situation, place or object. This fear if left unchecked can become uncontrollable to the point where it can disrupt your work and social life. The effects can vary from having panic attacks, extreme anxiety and discomfort. Phobia potentially can limit your ability to do things that may transform your life. PHOBIA RELIEF From Fear to Freedom by KALLIOPE BARLIS is a personal development book that teaches skills that will help the readers improve their way of life by controlling negative thoughts. It focuses on the concept called Neuro-Linguistic Programming--learning how to think successfully so as to improve behavior. This book is a brief read of 101 pages but detailed enough to deliver interactive life skills that the readers can practice to manage phobia so as to improve their way of thinking. Read this book to learn skills that are geared towards making you have total control over any irrational fears. The knowledge in this book will help you tackle any undesirable feelings that would otherwise limit your potential to do things that you love by practicing the habit of controlling your thoughts.

There are many positives about this book. The author presents well-researched studies about how the brain works to influence human behavior in ways the readers may not have known. The readers will be aware of potential triggers, symptoms and effects of this monster (phobia) lurking within the mind. But most importantly, they will find life-changing solutions to control these fears. This is possible only by practicing positive thinking. When you are aware of how the patterns in the brain change according to how you think, you will be able to prevent or control your fears whenever they creep into your mind. The chapters are brief but very detailed to help the readers absorb all the skills that the author teaches. Personally, I liked the fact that since one can read this book in one sitting, this can help the reader practice these skills more easily. They can incorporate them into their way of life and realize life changes for which the book's main goal is intended.

There are hardly any negative aspects about this book. Unlike other personal help books, it focuses on a single problem and does a good job showing the causes and providing solutions in a way that the reader can apply into their situations.

"Irate this book 4 out of 5 stars". Although it is rich with content and well-edited, the text is arranged in double columns which makes reading quite confusing. I deducted a star because of that reason.

This book is suitable for people who want to free their minds from destructive thoughts. The case studies the author used in helping her clients involves people of different age groups. The life skills and exercises that follow each lesson can have a profound effect on both the young and a mature audience.
