Review of The Girl Who Knew Da Vinci
Art, particularly paintings and sculptures, is extremely valuable. For a very long time, I failed to see why people paid huge amounts of money or went through the stress of paying people to steal different art forms. The Girl Who Knew Da Vinci by Belle Ami is a story about a mythical painting.
The prologue of this book talks about Sophia Caro and Gerhard, a German soldier who hated what the Nazis were doing. They were holed up in an art gallery in 1944 as explosions were set off outside. They discuss plans for fleeing together. Fast forward to the main story; this story relates to present-day Angela Renatus, who manifests unusual visions of Da Vinci. Most of the world considers a painting to be a myth, but her visions indicate that the painting is very real and can be found. Due to the high aesthetic and monetary value of this painting, there is a lot of conflict in the story behind it. Is this painting truly real, and who will win the race in the search for it?
As I said in the beginning, I failed to see why people appreciated art so much for a long time. However, when I came to understand the aesthetic, emotional, and even religious value of art, I finally understood the reason for the value of paintings, sculptures, and artifacts. This book also contributes to my understanding of art as it talks about a painting's great value, which is sought out by many people for different reasons. I like the story’s approach of using visions manifested by Angela Renatus.
I found nothing to dislike about this book. I like the title of the book. I also like that there is a story behind the paintings and behind the visions of Angela Renatus. It was not just any random and unprecedented event that led to the painting. Also, the quest for the painting by more than one party makes so much sense and adds flare to the plot of the book. The story is interesting as it is devoid of unappealing or boring details concerning art. Some might not like this statement, and I apologize for it. However, it is the truth. A greater part of the population finds some discussions or details about art boring. I like that this book avoided most of those kinds of discussions.
The Girl Who Knew Da Vinci by Belle Ami was exceptionally and professionally edited as it lacked errors. There was nothing to dislike about the book, so I am rating it 5 out of 5 stars. I also recommend it to people who love art and people who read adventure stories.
