Review of A Dream For Peace
In his memoir, A Dream For Peace, Dr. Ghoulem Berrah shares the story of his fulfilling yet challenging life. Born in Aïn Beïda, Algeria, Berrah lost his father at a young age and was raised by his single mother. As a victim of racial discrimination in a colonized country, Berrah became a political activist and dedicated himself to working towards justice and equality. The book covers both Berrah's public actions in the political realm as well as his private life. Despite facing obstacles and adversity, Berrah aspired to be a model citizen and patriot, a goal that he worked towards throughout his life.
In the beginning of this amazing piece, the author provides the reader with a brief overview of themselves. The author is a Muslim and grew up in Algeria, which was under French colonization at the time. This meant that their education was exclusively in French, rather than any other language. Despite facing numerous obstacles, the author excelled in school and eventually received a degree from a university in France. Afterwards, they dove into politics and journeyed to several countries, particularly those in Africa, where they worked towards bringing peace to oppressed nations.
The author's powerful language and compelling writing style effectively convey the importance of the story. They provide vivid and detailed descriptions of the characters and setting, allowing the reader to fully immerse themselves in the tale. The attention to detail adds depth and enhances the overall reading experience. This book is more than just an entertaining story; it has the power to inspire and enrich the reader's life by offering guidance and strengthening their values.
One issue I have with this book is its length. In my opinion, some of the experiences described in the book were not essential to the story and could have been left out. This may cause some readers to lose interest in the book. Overall, I would give it a rating of 4 out of 5 stars.
While reading, I came across three different errors, so I believe the book was professionally edited. The book contains no sexual scenes, so it could be read by young readers. I would recommend this book to all the citizens of Algeria, especially the current young citizens. This is a story they would learn a great deal from. I would also recommend this book to all African readers; this book would inspire the spirit of patriotism, which is the fuel for national development.
