The book Bi-Polaroid, by David Samuelson, is a collection of manic depression-related poems, short stories, and diary entries. After discussing mental illness and the mentality of a person with bipolar disorder, the author reflects on family, suffering, love, and joy. He discusses the signs of depression that surface in daily life. To illustrate the emotional experiences that people with mental illness go through, the author employs a variety of strategies. He discusses how to deal with mental illness, offers perspective on family members who are afflicted, and displays the mental signs of someone who is bipolar. The “hatred poem,” which discusses the sensation of hate where he detests being disliked, is one of several poems and short tales the author used to communicate his melancholy thoughts.

This book's educational aspect was what I liked best. The book provides strategies for overcoming depression and regressive behavior. Because they are shorter and easier to read, he employs poetry and short stories to impart these lessons. He teaches the readers the value of love and all that it might entail. Whatever challenges we encounter, we must continue to pursue our goals. People with bipolar disorder and other mental diseases are given hope by the author in this book. I liked the author's writing style as well. Poems, short stories, and dialogue were some of the numerous literary forms the author employed. I am glad that I came across such a great book to read.

There was nothing that I disliked about the book; it was informative to read, although the book's disorganized layout is the only thing I didn't enjoy about it. I think the book should have been divided into sections by the author. Other than that, it was an interesting book. The author shares his thoughts with us at some of the book's most vulnerable moments of hardship. The author was so transparent when writing this book; he didn't hold anything back. I admired the openness he displayed. The various stories that make up this book contain many insights. I also appreciate that the poems are rather simple. The author made no attempt to muddle the poetry with pointless analogies and wordplay.

I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars because it was fascinating and well-written. There were some grammatical errors or mistakes in it; therefore, it was professionally edited.

I would recommend this book to individuals who are looking for an understanding of how the minds of those who are mentally ill work.
