Review of The Girl Who Knew Da Vinci
The Girl Who Knew Da Vinci by Belle Ami is a book that tells the story of the quest to find a missing iconic painting. This is a historical book that dates back to 1944. The protagonist of this book is Angela, a young art scholar.
The Da Vinci painting went missing in 1944. This painting was made by Gerhard Jaeger, who was a German art historian. He is also Max's uncle. Max is a German billionaire who's determined to find this painting so he could clear his uncle's name of the Nazi taint. The painting came about as a result of the war in Florence. Max hired the services of two investigators, Alex and Scordato, to help find out about the missing painting. Scordato has an intern named Angela, and she seems to know about the Da Vinci painting. Scordato is an art consultant, while Alex is an art detective who has a special relationship with Angela. Angela has the ability to unravel mysteries through her dreams, and her boss intends to capitalize on this for his own selfish interests. I love historical books that reference things from the past while telling the current story because it gives a clear picture of what really happened. The author did an amazing job of writing this book. There are many positive aspects to this book. I enjoyed the storyline of this book. It reminded me of the concept of reincarnation as we saw it in the book, where it seems the love between Fioretta and Guiliano reincarnated into that of Alex and Angela. Though I don't believe in reincarnation, it seems a lot of people do. The author gave a well-detailed account of the book. The characters were well developed. This book contained romantic moments and was also full of suspense as there were a lot of mysteries that needed to be unraveled. The themes in this book are art, romance, and history. It was really engaging, as I didn't get bored while reading the book. It was really worth it, and I'll love to read books similar to this.
I like the book's title and the cover page. I also like Angela's ability to see visions and reveal things. It's actually mysterious, for it is not something we see on a regular basis. However, I disliked how Alex expressed his love for Angela a few times, even if he knew she normally has vision, which they use in solving puzzles. Also, the author didn't talk about Alex's life in the military. I learned a lot from this book, like being truthful and sincere in a relationship. There were also no grammatical errors in the book. This shows it was exceptionally well-edited.
I'm rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. I gave it a perfect rating because of the positive aspects of the book. I recommend this book to lovers of historical fiction.
