Review of We Love You, Madam President
In a CIA laboratory at Langley Virginia, three scientists: Dr. Shlomo Yashefsky, Matt Cranston, and his wife Mallory Cranston, are on the verge of making a groundbreaking innovation that will alter history forever. A DNA computer, which was a computer infused with human fetal tissue, was about to be grown to become the first of its species - a half-human, half-computer being. The sentient computer is christened Adama. The scientists hit dead as they don't have the technological know-how to grow the computer into a full being. Adama advises them to have it transfer its colossal amount of knowledge to a human brain, through a process of transcranial interaction.
President Allen is an ignorant, arrogant, and incendiary who was as promiscuous as he was arrogant. With an imminent sex scandal and corruption claims, his days at the oval office are numbered. Being an election year, his chances of being reelected are slim to none.
The transcranial interaction is successful and Mallory wakes up existing as a new being psyche-wise. She is connected to a computer via her brain. She carries a wealth of information and has super duper access to all that information. She also wakes with an obsession to go for the top job in the country. Turns out another scientist Ron Lehrman, had added a secret line of code to Adama's program that made Adama want to be the president of the United States of America. Turns out also that Ron was the son-in-law of Clarence Harrington who was the Secretary of State. Ron loathed him because he looked down on him. Will Mallory be able to go against a sitting president and defeat him? How will the public reception be to the modern-day 'Frankenstein' - a new species of human-computer combination? Will. she survive the dark, murky waters of politics which were unchartered waters to her? Well, you will have to read the book to find out.
Alvin S. Berger pens down a gripping science fiction thriller titled, We Love You, Madam President. The setting of the plot is in the electioneering period of the year 2020. The plot is lined with layers upon layers giving the plot depth. The characters come to life as the plot progresses and the layers are peeled back, making the book an obvious page flipper. Several themes play out in the story. One of them is women in politics. I am glad the author highlighted this theme as it is in tandem with the current times. Another contemporary theme in the story is sexual harassment in the workplace. The narrator makes a couple of references to the 'Metoo' movement. Abuse of power at different levels of power was also highlighted. Of the themes that the author highlighted, the most sensitive one was that of humans trying to play God.
There is nothing I disliked about the book. The book was exceptionally edited - it had zero mistakes. I, therefore, give the book a perfect rating of 4 out of 4 stars, and a solid 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend the book to fans of crime thriller books. The book will be quite the treat to them. Because the book had a couple of adult scenes and the strong language used, I wouldn't recognize the book to young adults.
