Wild World , by Peter S. Rush, is the story of a young man's desire to bring about social change and the lengths that he went through to accomplish it.

This is the story of Steve Logan. On the verge of graduating from college, a protest against the Vietnam War ignites in him a desire to bring about social change. He meets a detective who emphasizes the importance of being part of the system in order to make an impact and bring about positive change. In his quest, he experiences issues of identity, belonging, romantic tensions, betrayal, and danger.

This was a great story to follow. The author exposes the short comings of law enforcement on a personal level. The role that self-interest plays in polluting a system that was put in place to benefit the masses. How greed perpetuates a system of unfairness and injustice; as well as the lengths to which people are willing to go to protect and fulfill their selfish interests.

What made this story stand out was how the author painted Steve's journey. By exposing him to different characters within the police force, he gives us a broader image of what goes on behind closed doors. How the good cops perpetuate the system of corruption by being complacent and turning a blind eye. But also how the force is so cut-throat that the corrupt ones are willing to go to dangerous lengths to intimidate and silence those who challenge them.

This is a beautiful story of hope. That sometimes the cost of doing the right thing is worth paying and that things do work out in the end, regardless of how difficult the road may be. The story is set 50 years ago, but the themes are as relevant today as they were then. These are issues that society is still facing , which makes the story incredibly relatable.

The story does not just focus on what goes on within the police force but also highlights the relationship between the police and the community. By highlighting the dynamic between community members and the police, one has no choice but to wonder who exactly the police are working for and if the force is fulfilling its mandate to protect and serve the people.

I give this book 3 out of 4 stars because I noticed a few typos, which gives the impression that it has not been professionally edited. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy crime thrillers and those who enjoy solving conspiracies. The book is not suitable for sensitive readers as it has themes of domestic violence, sex and nudity, and profane language.
