We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Grate Skies by Matthew Tysz is a story set in a wondrous world. It's a world full of Knights in shining armor, Mages, singers, paupers, and of course, the Nobles. It's a world painted with brush strokes using marvelous words. This will capture the most docile imagination and take it on a journey beyond belief.

This book is well written and easy to read. The author paints a picture of a world filled with magic, love, and goodwill. But as always, there is a sinister force looming. It seems that these people of this land is a trusty bunch that loves to dance and feast. But still, the dark Mages Dalehei Melodrath lingers in the back of everyone's mind. So strong are this Mage's powers that some fear speaking his name. Our hero Galen Bray enters this magical kingdom of Soulhire upon inheriting his uncle's forge. Soon he and his newly acquired friend, Rowan, embarks with the help of his uncle's book to learn this trade left to him.

My favorite part of this book was when Galen went to visit Diadem. In this church, there is a Chantry where, on the ceiling, an artist painted the face of God. The pure simplicity and honesty the author used to describe the painting struck a cord inside me, as it did in Galen. The priest Heius Bartus says on page 116, "But God has placed us, knowing who we are, in exactly the time and place that we were born to fit his plan." I thought that this was well said. Not only is this applicable to Galen's journey but also to the reader's journey. When Galen and Rowan search for Lactis steel, they stumble on some black rocks not known throughout the land. What is this rock? What is its purpose? Will Galen, with the help of Demetrius Waters, one of only two Imbuers in the city of Val Eve, be able to find out?

There was nothing about this book that I disliked. Matthew Tysz has put together a splendid work of art using words. The color and rhythm make the reader wish that it shouldn't end. Just like me, I finished this book in just one sitting. The strangeness of the Mages enthralled me. The Riva Rohavi, the fearsome dancing feather-clad warriors wearing wooden masks, frightened me. But still, there is so much more to explore in the enchanting world that is Voulhire.

This book is well edited; I encountered no errors while reading. We are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies consists of 25 chapters and is p186 long on my device. The reader will also find a thorough reference guide at the end of this book. In the beginning, the author also provides the reader with links to his other work. We are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies, is also one in a series of 9 books. Although the story is set in a series, it did not hinder my enjoyment while reading, and I can't wait to get my hands on the other 8. There is some foul language. I would recommend this book to young adults and older. It is my pleasure to award this book 4 out of 4 stars. People that enjoy fantasy and sci-fi will fall in love with this book. Matthew Tysz is a master painter with words.

This sounds like wonderful first installment to a splendid series. I've always been a bit doubtful whether I should read it not, but now I'm quite confident that I'll enjoy it.

I am a big fan of Galen and I haven't even read the novel. All of the reviews I've read depict him as very strong and capable.

Meldorath, what's the deal with him anyway? Hearing about Meldorath makes me scared for Galen. I wonder what he'll find in the land of Voulhire. Thanks for the honest review, I'm looking forward to reading this book.

I was thoroughly impressed with the depth and development of the characters in "Cadillac Hubie." Rad Crews does a fantastic job of making each character memorable and distinct. Hubie and Bear's friendship is particularly compelling, and the introduction of Gomez Gomez adds an intriguing layer of mystique to the story. This dynamic trio makes the journey exciting and keeps readers emotionally invested.
