The Magicians Secret is a story of adventure, teamwork, magic and power.

Delvin a farmhand decides his fate as a magician when his dying friend Borlock leaves him all his tools which include a magician stone (the stone once touched is capable of putting a thought from one person's mind to another person's mind). He and his friend Greg set out to Hengel where they decide to establish themselves and during his first fortune reading he sees a vision of falling barrels.

Hengel is at this time at war with Argent and when a festival held to celebrate the founding of the state of Hengel and Delvin's vision comes to pass, it leads to him being captured with a claim that he knows of the war.
The capture allows him to meet Princess Jarla who is determined to claim peace for her land and Princess Fionella who claims to have being captured being the cause of the war but is she? The story only begins from here with as many twists and turns.

I love the book, for me the adventure imagery is made interesting by the fact that Charles Townsend uses characters that i can only describe as falling between teenagers and adults (not too knowledgeable for the world but not lacking some kind of awareness of how it works).

The idea behind the book is however not as wide and there were some editing errors, it gets a rating of 3 out of 4 stars from me.

For believers in magic and lovers of adventure, this would make a great read.
