Everyone has at least one undesirable habit that they struggle with. Sometimes we may be unaware of certain bad behaviors that we exhibit, not until we are confronted about them by the people around us. HaBITS, change your mindset on byte at a time, is a self help book about behavioral change, which can help one to not only identify and eliminate bad habits, but also help identify and enforce good habits.

In this book, the author, Ava Riley, sheds light on the importance of the "process" in self improvement rather than just focusing on an estimated goal you plan achieve. The author compares the formation of habits as that of creating a computer program, which involves selection of certain codes in order to have a desired program. The same applies to habit formation, because it simply involves a repetition of a behavior pattern, which determines one's personality. Ava Riley enlightens readers on how people can view their setback during the process of trying to eliminate bad habits and enforcing good ones in a positive way and how they can move on from it, which in my opinion is very encouraging.

The most fascinating thing about this book is that the bad habit Change approach is not only applicable to those who smoke, gamble, abuse alcohol e.t.c, but it is generalised and applicable to any form of bad habits, such as money mismanagement, uncommitment to tasks, unhealthy lifestyle e.t.c. There is alot to learn from this book with regards to factors that influence habits and their connection with one's identity.

The author suggests manageable ways a person could use to track their progress on good habit formation, such as manual (by crossing out an activity or task each time it is done in your journal or on your calendar) or using internet applications (e.g iDoneThis, Beeminder, Habitica e.t.c) and so you can choose which method suits you best. Another thing I loved about the book is that the resolutions suggested are practical, the author clearly explains the importance of motivation whether internal or external, and most importantly the person's willingness to change their undesirable habit.

I didn't find anything to dislike about the book and in my opinion it is professionally and well edited, hence, I am rating it 4 out of 4 stars.

Lastly I recommend this book to those who want to acquire positive behavioral change and whoever loves to read non-fiction, self help books.
