Zona: The Forbidden Land by Fred G. Baker puts focus on Dr Grant Taylor. His adventurous uncle, Randall Taylor, is said to have gone missing in one of his adventures and is now presumed dead. He goes to his uncle's apartment and looks through his books and journals, determined to find a clue on whatever had happened to him. This leads him on an expedition in Siberia to a mythic place called Zona, where huge animals reside. Will Grant and the rest of his crew survive, or will they become a meal for these animals to feast on?

This book was really enjoyable, I must say. The author was very descriptive in this book, which is worth commending. The detailed description of how things played out on their journey allowed for better envisioning and made me feel like I was part of the journey. That was a great feeling, I must say. The first part of the book, which mainly focused on uncovering clues and trying to find out who was to be trusted or not, had me gripped and in anticipation of what was to come, and I found myself scrolling through the pages with a racing heartbeat. I love Fred G. Baker's diction and style of writing, as he knows how to create scenes in a way that will surely immerse the reader in a story. I was fascinated by the part about Grant being able to understand the wolves and how they always came through for him when need be.

Another part I found really interesting and funny was when everybody in the crew was always horny and had no control over their feelings. I love how the author brought the Russian culture to this book, as it helped me understand some of the actions and reactions of the characters. I will not forget to state that the book was exceptionally well edited, and that definitely allowed for smooth reading, which added to the beauty of the book. From the unknown environment to mysterious animals, which brings about suspense, action, discovery, and sexual desires, Zona: The Forbidden Land by Fred G. Baker is a book worth every time invested in it.

After such comprehensive paragraphs on the things I loved about the book, it shouldn't be surprising that I did not find anything to dislike about it. Every part of the book was pivotal to making it a great read.

Based on the above reasons, I think it’s fair to rate Zona: The Forbidden Land by Fred G. Baker 4 out of 4 stars. I found no reason to remove a star from the book.

I recommend this book to those who are interested in scientific expeditions and adventurous thrillers. They will do well to add this to their collection.
