The Wild World by Peter S. Rush is about a man that has his first glimpse into the brutality of the world. He will meet an officer that is working in changing the system that will become his motivation to the different path of life. He will be put in a situation that he does not belong to and sees as a threat to the whole department. As he constantly made his way to his goal, he will face dilemmas in his professional and personal life that would make him think if his doing the right thing or not.

What I like about the book is the determination of the main character to fight the system, even if no one supports him. I also like the different characteristics of the people around him, whether in his professional or personal life. I love how the story ended because justice was served to the people that have the power to manipulate the system. I also appreciate the fact that he found his passion not because of what others encouraged him to do.

What I don't like about the book is the incorrect use of punctuation marks. The novel is not professionally edited since there are a lot of errors. I hate how the life and decisions of Steve depend on what his lover will feel. I also don't like the way Steve covers his friends' mistakes. I dislike the fact that he wants to change the system but he is also taking advantage of it. When his friends were using marijuana and selling pot, he didn't report it to the higher ups; instead he turned a blind eye to their wrong doings. I see in the point of view of Steve that he wants to feel like he belongs, especially to the company of his friends. He doesn't want them to see the reality of life or what he is experiencing on the street. Even though I dislike the personality of the main character, the fact that it tackles the brutality of the world hooks me until the end.

I will rate this book 3 out of 4 stars since it is not professionally edited. But even though the punctuation marks are incorrect, the story is great. It demonstrates how widespread corruption is in the government and police departments. This novel will open the readers' eyes.

I will recommend this book to adults because I feel like they are the ones that will be hooked on the story. Since they are the ones that are more politically aware and know how corruption plays a role in our society.
