Review of Love Yourself & Lose Weight: The Success Story of Self Love
Love Yourself & Lose Weight: The Success Story of Self Love by Katie Lips is a self-help book about the author's success story of self-love and weight loss. Katie was always at a healthy weight during her childhood and well into adulthood. However, when she got to her 30s, she gained weight gradually until the point where she was her heaviest at 238lbs.
Ever since she gained weight, she had tried all diets and exercises to lose weight. Although they had worked part-time, they were never permanent, and she would always gain the weight back. When Katie had her daughter, she decided to commit to a healthy lifestyle. She worked on her self-love and weight. This book contains all the methods she used to lose over 85lbs.
I loved that the author was open and honest about her struggle with weight loss. She was vulnerable enough to share how she used to cover up her body with scarves because she did not like it. I commend her for her honesty and realness. I also loved that she called out doctors for always mentioning weight as a problem but never understanding that there is a root cause.
At first, I thought that I always gave myself all the self-love that I had. However, after reading the bits on self-love, I realized that I don't usually put myself first. I aim to make other people comfortable at the expense of my comfort. Since self-love is about putting yourself first, I am grateful to the author for helping me realize a lot about self-love and what I need to work on.
I believe this book has great tips that will boost your morale. It is interactive and simple. The exercises at the end of the book are also a great summary for those who need to lose weight ASAP. There is nothing I disliked about the book. For all the reasons above, I give this book a rating of four out of four stars. It seemed professionally edited since I did not find any errors.
This book is suited for readers who love self-help books since it is full of eye-opening ideas. It would also benefit people who are looking to lose weight and develop good weight loss practices that are sustainable in the long term. I would recommend this book to people looking to learn more about loving themselves because the author struggled with it herself, and such readers can relate to her. I would not discourage anyone from reading this book.
