Solaris Seethes (Solaris Saga Book 1) by Janet McNulty is a young adult science fiction novel that is sure to thrill! Rynah, a girl from the planet Lanyr, thinks that all the legends she has heard about the six crystals were myths, stories someone made up like a fairytale. When her Fiancé Klanor steals the crystal from planet Lanyr, thus destroying the planets magnetic force field, Rynah discovers that all the legends she thought were just myths are actually true. Rynah boards her deceased grandfathers space ship, Solaris, and together they abduct four Earthlings from different time periods. Follow Rynah, the Earthlings and Solaris, the AI spaceship, as they fight to get the six crystals before Klanor makes a weapon out of them that can destroy galaxies.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I thought it was very well written and the storyline was so interesting. The author provided extremely vivid details There were so many things in the book that I wasn’t expecting that it kept me on the edge of my seat, waiting to finish the book to see how it would end. Once I finished, I couldn’t wait to read the next book.

However, you really have to suspend your disbelief at times in this story. The way that the author wrote the book, there are a lot of similarities to Earth but there are also some things that are way different and harder to accept. I’m still not sure how I feel about Solaris being so human-like. I got very attached to Solaris, but at the same time I also think a spaceship shouldn’t have been quite so much like a human with feelings. The main thing I didn’t like was that the four Earthlings, who were basically kidnapped, didn’t even seem that upset by it. The main character, Rynah, was also a little irritating because she acted like she was better and more important than everyone else.

All in all, I would give the book a rating of 3 out of 4 stars. I am only deducting a star because I found some errors, although the errors were very minor and didn’t take away from the book at all. There wasn’t any profanity or sexual encounters.

I would recommend this book mostly to young adult readers. I would say that people who enjoy space adventure and science fiction books would also enjoy reading this book. If you’re looking for your next sci-fi series, this is it.
