The Romance Novel "Cynthia and Dan" authored by Dorothy May Mercer is a fast paced novel mainly based on the personal bodyguard and chief of security of Senator Mike McBride, Cynthia Patterson. It also features her love life or rather love triangle between Sergeant Dan McIntyre and the mysterious Sky Eastman. The book also follows Cynthia's life as an investigator trying to sabotage the ISIS terrorists plans in a cyber war and as a young woman stuck between the choice of going back to her Ex or choosing the new mysterious guy.
Cynthia met Sky Eastman amidst the ruckus made on the day a drone landed on the Lawn of the White House where he offered to help her out as her car was stuck in traffic and even proceeded to invite her to his house later that night. This mysterious encounter led up to a series of events the Author Dorothy M. M tries to the best of a ability to tell in quite an elaborate and entertaining way. The later chapters of the book focuses on Cynthia trying to Navigate the events of the ever growing terrorists threats on America while trying to come to terms with how to deal with the relationship she has with both Dan and the Mysterious Sky Eastman. Also the book covers the attempts of both the 'compuNerds' (Tim Dupre and Garth Tatum), Glenn Patterson and Cynthia Patterson trying to engage the ISIS terrorists group in a cyberwar and sabotage their plans.
I liked the book because of how it tries to give a detailed background information of its main characters and the the fact that even though it was part of a series it was quite easily understandable without having the need to read the previous books in the series. I also enjoyed the book because the author does her best to make sure that the characters she brings into life are quite reasonable and relatable and the fact that she kept the book not too long as to discourage the readers and not to short as well.
The only reason I disliked the book was because of its poor character development on majority of the side characters like the members of the SSM'SS, Garth, Glenn and Senator Mike McBride.
I would rate the book 3 out of 4 stars and recommend it to young Adults who are lovers of Romance books. The book looks properly edited as I noticed no errors in it. It also contained no profanity and mild erotic/nude scenes.
