Annihilation by Kaylin McFarren is the second book in Gehenna series. It can be read as a standalone. The events in the story occur after Lucifer's supposed death. After his death, his daughter, now Queen Lucinda, ascends the throne in his stead. Under the influence of those who do not have her best interests at heart, she implements terrible laws and hurts many people, friends and foes alike.

Samara Daemonium, the protagonist in the story, is the daughter of Crighton and Ariel. After witnessing the deaths of her love interest and her best friend, with all the secrets surrounding their deaths, she decides not to trust demons and avoids Hell. An incident occurs in which she finds herself in a forbidden place, which is Hell. Happening simultaneously, Lucifer, the king of Hell, has been reborn in a new vessel. After seeing Samara, he finds himself longing for her. He wants her as his queen. Will he succeed? Or does Samara's fate lie on another path? What will become of Lucinda? Can the Red War be stopped in time? The answers to these questions are contained within this book.

I have to admit that this was a good read. The story cuts across genres like horror, adventure, fantasy, and even romance. I enjoyed reading this book. Although it was a bit lengthy, I enjoyed it all the same. I couldn't drop it until I had finished it. The storyline kept me hooked. It had a lot of mini-plots running alongside the main one, which added depth to the story. The author's writing style is incredible; it's been a while since I've read a book as enticing as this. The way the plot was structured, as well as the character descriptions, were top-notch. There were a lot of characters, but the way they were all introduced, any reader would have no problem comprehending them.

The only thing I'd say I disliked in this story was the time jumps. It was a bit difficult to keep track of that. At times, I did not know if the storyline had moved forward or if it was just a result of a demon's rapid growth. Apart from that, I have nothing but praise for this work. I also have to commend the author on the vocabulary used. It was relatively easy to understand. I didn't read the prequel, but I was still able to understand this book. I am grateful for that.

Annihilation by Kaylin McFarren receives 4 out of 4 stars from me. I found very few errors in the work, which leads me to believe it is professionally edited. I recommend this book to all who enjoy reading books about adventure, fantasy, and paranormal activity. This book also contains profanities and dark sexual content. If this is something you consider before selecting a book to read, then this may not be the book for you.

I can easily choose to read this book due to your praise of the plot. Thrill is the quality I appreciate most in a book. As you mentioned, it’s clearly abundant in this book. That’s superb.

Wow. The storyline is so thrilling. I can't wait to read this book and see what actions Lucifer takes towards winning Samara's heart. This review literally captures parts of the book that can gain the attention of readers. Good job.

I like the way the book was plotted. Having mini plots running along the main plots is a great one. I will however pass on this one because I don't really like reading horror books. Great review!

I like the fact that you don't have to read the previous book to understand what's going on in this one. It sounds like a very exciting story, and I appreciate your wonderful review!

The title is quite interesting, I wonder why the author chose it. The storyline seems interesting too, although I haven't read the first book so it's a bit confusing. Thank you for your interesting review.
