Review of Killing Abel
Noah had always known that God had called him for a particular purpose. He did not know exactly what that purpose was, but he was not about to snub God's calls for any reason. His father and his mother had taught him better. In fact, the first Adam inspired his devotion to God. Abel, the second son, also showed him that living right amid bad and evil was possible. Killing Abel is a story about all of the men mentioned above and the difficulties they faced in their quest for redemption in God's eyes. It accounts for Noah's struggles in his quest to carry out God's commands. It also gives a pretty vivid picture of the wages of sin and the punishment for rebelling against one's father.
Killing Abel by Michael Tieman is a book about grace, forgiveness, and sin. It is a book that addresses the core feature of every human being—evil. On the flip side, it suggests that our evil side can be conquered if we wish it to be. At the end of the day, we carve out the path we want for ourselves. This just reassures me that we make our fate and destiny, and not some deity out there. Even though this is pretty much a product of the Bible, a book that I do not really believe in, it gave me hope. This hope, in turn, made me understand that life is worth living right. I have to say that this is what I liked the most about this book.
I wonder if Michael Tieman ever plans to write a sequel to Killing Abel. I will definitely not complain if he does, because I want to know what happened after the last event in the book. I understand this story is in the Bible but was not told the way this brilliant author told it. Let me say I did not dislike anything about Killing Abel. I loved everything about it and will always do so.
Killing Abel taught me the importance of redemption and punishment. It taught me that sometimes we suffer because we have done wrong. I feel like the lessons in this book can be applied to every instance in life. It also taught me that, at the end of the day, what we choose to make of our current situation is the most important thing in our life. I did not dislike anything that Killing Abel had in its pages. It was both interesting and enlightening. Michael Tieman also professionally edited it, and it had only seven mistakes. All of these make me rate it 3 out of 4 stars.
I gave Killing Abel such a high rating because I feel everyone curious about Cain, Abel, Adam, Eve, and Noah should read this book. It is a work of fiction, but that does not mean that it does not teach several lessons that will come in handy in the real world.
