When Genesis Isherwood mixed with the wrong crowd and even developed a minor drug habit. Her family lied to make her come back home. Hoping that she wasn't beyond redemption and was good enough to participate in a centuries-long family battle. A battle for the nails that nailed Jesus Christ, the Nazarene. Though she fights alongside Myrddin (aka Merlin) and Mark. The four men sent to steal the nails, by any means-Marius, Remus, Atticus, and Lucilius-are not only hell-bent but also immortals. Who will win in the first of the Foot Nail series? The supernatural quartet or Genesis and her friends?

Genesis Awakens resonates satisfactorily with me because of a believable plotline. I liked the jaw-dropping fight scenes between Mark and Lucilius. It was intensely mixed with physical hurls and supernatural firepower. I also loved the suspense-filled plotline of the book that brilliantly kept me till the very end.

I felt let down by the question mark breaks the author used in separating scenes within chapters. It consistently distracted me. Everything else worked well in Akorede Adekoya and Howard Haugom's book. And I found it not only a lovable fiction, but even an intriguing one.

I would rate the book 3 out of 4 stars. Without proselytizing, it shows how grim sometimes the battle between good and evil can be. I most especially love how it emphasizes that forces for good might not be the perfect warriors, but they are the right ones.

I am really expectant for more books in this series and if you love family-friendly fantasy, a good versus evil saga. This book is for you.
