The Lost Identity Casualties by Kim Ekemar is a uniquely captivating thriller. It tells the story of a man, Matthias, who, through a string of coincidences and complications, ends up involved in a plot straight out of his nightmares. Luckily for Matthias, he is smart enough to rival his gangster tormentors, step by step. The reader is left constantly wondering what he will come up with next, and whether he will be able to outsmart his enemies.

The Lost Identity Casualties takes the reader on a roller coaster ride of a story. I was hooked from the very start and immediately needed to understand what was happening to our hero. The story was told in such a way that you are learning along with our main character, which keeps things exciting. I found myself on the edge of my seat throughout its entirety. Once the story gets rolling, I found myself trying to figure out what Matthias would be doing next. He always managed to completely surprise me when I thought I had it figured out.

As the story progresses, Matthias encounters numerous challenges, each one more exciting than the last. The story is far from predictable, keeping us on our toes along with Matthias. While similar stories might feel like they are just repeating tropes from the movies, Lost Identity Casualties keep everything fresh. It almost feels like Matthias is outsmarting the reader as well as his enemies.

The format of the beginning of the story takes a little bit of time to get used to. There are flashbacks and time jumps, which can be a little difficult to follow. This does serve a purpose, as the main character is also struggling to follow what is happening to him. Ultimately, this does not affect the quality of the story, even if it is somewhat jarring at first.

The Lost Identity Casualties easily earns four out of four stars. There were not any major editing errors, and it was a complete and well-put-together story from beginning to end. It is one of the top stories I've read in a long time.

It would be enjoyed by anyone looking for a suspenseful story, who doesn't mind a bit of violence. There is some graphic material, but going into the story with this in mind should prepare anyone for the worst of it, no worse than your average action movie.
